NFC Notes: 49ers, Eagles, Lions, Saints

49ers

  • Adam Schefter reports that 49ers starting G Josh Garnett is expected to miss at least one month with a knee injury he suffered this weekend.

Eagles

  • Tim McManus of ESPN mentions that there doesn’t appear to have been any substantive extension talks between the Eagles and WR Jordan Matthews up to this point.
  • Even so, McManus writes that this doesn’t mean the Eagles don’t value Matthews, but could be a sign they’re willing to allow him to test the open market next year and move on if his asking price ends up being too high.
  • According to McManus, “there s a school of thought that exists that dealing Matthews is the right play when you consider his contract status, the promising state of the position group and the fact that Matthews isn’t projected as a special teams contributor, thereby reducing his value should he find himself in a reserve role.”
  • While McManus still thinks trading Matthews would be unnecessarily risky, he also isn’t ruling it out.

Lions

Saints

Nick Underhill of the Advocate runs down the Saints’ roster while taking at locks to make the roster and some players fighting for jobs.
