NFC Notes: 49ers, Packers, Seahawks

49ers

New 49ers CB Richard Sherman says he’s spoken with LB Reuben Foster and believes he’s going to be fine, despite some of the legal issues he’s facing.

You know, I’ve had conversations with him,” Sherman tells Michael Robinson of NFL Media. “Obviously he knows mistakes have happened in the past and he’s trying to move past it. He’s doing his best to deal with the situation the best he can. Basically, he’s an incredible young man. We’re all human beings and I think that’s what society forgets — that we all make mistakes. These young men are under a microscope that most people don’t have to deal with. And, obviously, he’s handling it the best he can, but I’m trying to do my part to just be a good teammate and be there for him in any way I can. And I think he’s going to be fine.

Packers

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said recently that while he’s well aware of the fact that players rarely finish out their career with the same team, his goal is to “to be indispensable to this organization into my 40s to where you’ve got to keep me around.

“It’s sustained greatness I think is what drives me,” Rodgers said, via Aaron Nagler of PackersNews.com. “It’s to be the best and to be able to choose when I’m done playing.  I think as you’ve seen here recently with Jordy [Nelson] but even you go back a few years to whether it’s Julius Peppers or A.J. Hawk or John Kuhn or Brett Favre, the fairy tale ending of starting a career and ending it with the same organization rarely happens. So that’s kind of my goal, is to be able to be indispensable to this organization into my 40s to where you’ve got to keep me around.”

Seahawks

Brock Huard of 710 ESPN Seattle believes there could be a lot of roster churn at wide receiver for the Seahawks this summer.

I think the Keenan Reynolds move yesterday speaks to that,” Huard said. “The number of guys, and even bringing in Brandon Marshall for the physical, they’re going to continue to I think turnover every stone. And there’s usually the largest supply of those kind of guys, that are just a little bit in between or come in all shapes and sizes and speeds. And while Doug (Baldwin) and Tyler (Lockett) are absolutely locked in, Amara Darboh is a third round pick you think is going to have every opportunity, Jaron Brown got a couple million bucks, when it comes to how that sorts itself out in (spot) five, six, and possibly seven on that roster with special teams and the return game, I think you’re going to see a lot of competition and a lot of churn.

According to Huard, the Seahawks could make some more moves in the coming months with Dez Bryant being a potential option, depending on how his market plays out.

“Oh there’s no question. And let’s see how long Dez Bryant sits out there and what happens to his market value,” Huard said. “And if a veteran guy gets released elsewhere, or a young guy that they really loved as an undrafted free agent doesn’t make it somewhere. And possibly the pass rush angle, Dadi Nicolas is there (now). I think those are the two spots you’re going to continue to see a whole lot of activity.
