NFC Notes: 49ers, Rams, Seahawks

49ers

49ers GM John Lynch said recently that he believes they’ve have had “two good drafts” and they will look supplement their drafts with some more free agent additions.

“It’s tough because you have to be patient, but we’ve got to kind of draft our way out of this,” Lynch said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “I think we’ve had two good drafts. We’ve got to continue to put those out there. We also have some money to spend in free agency this offseason.

Lynch did, however, admit that he has more work to do to get the roster where it needs to be.

“Is it a complete roster? No. Not by any means,” Lynch said. “We need to get better. And that’s a big part of my job. And I need to do better there. But we have enough. I think that’s evidenced by the fact that we’re in all these games. We just need to learn how to finish.”

Rams

Rams HC Sean McVay said he expects newly acquired OLB Dante Fowler Jr. to step in and help their pass rush right away.

“We feel like he’s going to help us, specifically from a rush perspective,” McVay said, via Pro Football Talk. “Got him in here and we’ll see how quickly he can get up to speed, if he’s going to be able to contribute and help us this weekend. But we’re excited to get Dante here.

Fowler says he’s looking forward to having a “fresh start” with a new team.

“A new chapter,” Fowler said, via the Los Angeles Times. “That’s how I look at it.

“Just a fresh start. For me being able to start over and just show guys who I really am.

Seahawks

Although the Seahawks released veteran WR Brandon Marshall, HC Pete Carroll said it’s possible they could bring Marshall back depending on how things go in the coming weeks.

“He was a great pro for us,” Carroll said, via Pro Football Talk. “He did such good stuff [and] helped guys on both sides of the football with all of his experience and all that. He’s in terrific shape for this stage of his career and he can still play. It happened that we looked at the roster, we looked at the way we’re running the football, we needed a little bit more help across the board with [special] teams and some stuff that would help us in general. There’s just not enough throws to get it to him, but he can play and in the event where something came down and we had a chance, we’d love to have him back. We just had to do something right now and it’s unfortunate.”
