NFC Notes: Bears, Buccaneers, Saints

Bears

Jets S Jamal Adams says he thought the Bears were going to draft him in round one last year before they surprisingly traded up to get QB Mitch Trubisky.

I’m not even going to sugar coat it,” Adams said, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “I thought I was going to be a Chicago Bear. Everybody did. But it didn’t work out that way. And I landed in the best possible position.

“Honestly, I did not know,” Adams added. “The cameras were on Mitch [Trubisky] and me. So, we did not know. The cameras were on both of us. We definitely didn’t know. No one got the call. The Commissioner made the pick. No one in the green room got a call. No one.”

Saints

Saints CB Eli Apple, who was recently acquired from the Giants, said he did not “necessarily” need a change of scenery, but is glad to be in New Orleans.

I wouldn’t necessarily say I needed it, but it’s great to have one right now,” said Apple, via Josh Katzenstein.
