NFC Notes: Buccaneers, Eagles, Redskins

Buccaneers

  • Jay Glazer of FOX Sports mentioned during an appearance on Colin Cowherd’s radio/TV show that the Buccaneers took Bruce Arians to a local hospital as part of his interview for the team. (JoeBucsFan)
  • Glazer explained that he’s never heard of a team taking this kind of precautionary measure with a coaching candidate.
  • However, Arians has had some serious health concerns that reportedly factored into his decision to retire as Cardinals’ head coach.

Eagles

Eagles HC Doug Pederson explained the decision to keep QB Carson Wentz on their active roster, despite the stress fracture in his back.

“Well, listen, I mean, we keep winning,” Pederson said, via Pro Football Talk. “We keep putting ourselves in a position to be successful. You never know. You never know what next week might hold. So we just keep that — we’ve done it a lot this year. We kept Darren [Sproles] up all season. We’ve done it with other players this year. Sidney Jones is another one that we keep alive. We keep these guys coming and we’ll see where they are at in another week.
