NFC Notes: Buccaneers, Packers & Seahawks

Buccaneers

According to Roy Cummings of Today’s Pigskin,  the Buccaneers aren’t sure they can trust TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins and his attitude “has the potential to cost him his job.”

Seferian-Jenkins is a $10 million talent with a ten-cent head,” Cummings writes. “In just two seasons with the Buccaneers, he’s proved he has the uncanny ability to turn a molehill of a mistake into a mushroom cloud of trouble. The problem has the potential to cost him his job.

Packers

Former Packers first-round pick Datone Jones says he’s “loving” his new hybrid elephant role in the team’s defense.

I’m loving it,” Jones said, via Packers.com. “A situation happens like this, you can jump in there and boom – you could fill a role and play it. Now, I’m excited because I actually do get a full season to learn coverages, learn how to cover tight ends and running backs. Just rush from different angles.”

Jones will be asked to play outside linebacker more in 2016 after the team elected to change his role a bit last season to give him some more snaps.

“That guy is a natural outside. That’s where he’s supposed to be,Mike Daniels explained. “You can tell he definitely feels more comfortable. He’s playing more physical and I absolutely love it. I look forward to getting him out there. When we get into the three-man front and Datone is the outside linebacker, it’s almost like we’re in a 4-3. It’s great.”

Seahawks

  • Former Seahawks WR Jeff Fuller and LB Khairi Fortt officially passed through waivers unclaimed on Wednesday and are now unrestricted free agents.
