NFC Notes: Buccaneers, Rams, Redskins

Buccaneers

Buccaneers DE Noah Spence underwent a Latarjet procedure on his shoulder after dealing with shoulder dislocations in each of his first two NFL seasons.

Spence tells Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times that he now feels “one hundred percent” healthy.

One hundred percent,” said Spence. “You see this big scar here, so it isn’t like nothing happened. It’s all healed up. It feels great, feels back to normal. Full range of motion and everything.”

“They took some bone from the top and put it underneath, so my shoulder won’t pop out anymore. I’ve got some nails (attached) to the bone.”

Rams

  • Ian Rapoport reports there’s expected to be a wait for Rams DT Aaron Donald to get a long-term extension from the team.
  • The Rams are reportedly trying to get a deal done, but Rapoport says that nothing is on the horizon, but the start of training camp could be around the time for the two sides to get closer to an agreement.
  • Rapoport explains that the Rams have other players who are considered priorities for them also waiting for new deals including WR Brandin Cooks and RB Todd Gurley.

Redskins

  • Rich Tandler of NBC Washington writes that the five-year, $66.5 million contract that includes $30 million fully guaranteed signed by new Jaguars G Andrew Norwell will clearly come into play when the Redskins begin extension talks with G Brandon Scherff.
  • Washington picked up Scherff’s fifth-year option for the 2019 season, which will cost them around $13 million.
  • It just so happens that Norwell’s average annual salary is $13.3 million, so that’s a figure worth watching for Scherff once extension talks are underway.
