NFC Notes: Cardinals, Eagles, Seahawks

Cardinals

  • According to Tom Pelissero, the Cardinals “have made it clear” that they do not want to overwork Sam Bradford (knee) this offseason and the team has a plan to keep him on the field for all 16 games.
  • Regarding first-round QB Josh Rosen, Pelissero says that the rookie has been able to take the majority of first-team reps in practice with Bradford on a limited schedule.

Eagles

  • Eliot Shorr-Parks expects RB Darren Sproles to continue having a big role and would not be surprised to see Sproles lead the team in snaps next season.
  • As for backup RB Donnel Pumphrey, Shorr-Parks writes that the running back faces an “uphill battle” to make the active roster due to the team’s depth at his position.

Seahawks

Former Seahawks CB Richard Sherman believes that Seahawks S Earl Thomas “deserves” to be paid as the top safety in the NFL:

“I think Earl Thomas deserves the money he’s asking for,” Sherman told Michael Robinson of the NFL Network on Saturday. “I think he deserves to be compensated as the top safety in the league. Whether Seattle does that or not is up to them.”

Sherman added that Thomas’ value to the Seahawks’ defense is invaluable to the point that the system “doesn’t really work without his contribution.”

Obviously, that man plays at a high level and the defense doesn’t really work without his contribution,” Sherman said. “I think after a while you show a certain level of respect to your players who’ve put in the time. And he’s been a great example of dedication and perseverance, and just incredible excellence. So obviously he deserves to get paid, but whether they pay him or not is up to them.”
