NFC Notes: Cardinals, Panthers, Vikings

Cardinals

  • Cardinals HC Steve Wilks announced after Friday’s preseason game that backup QB Mike Glennon has been nursing a forearm injury. (Darren Urban)
  • Mike Jurecki says that even with rookie QB Josh Rosen looking good, it’s possible the Cardinals will carry three quarterbacks including Glennon, given that they were forced to use three quarterbacks last year.
  • Wilks said rookie WR Christian Kirk has “created some separation” in regards to the team’s No. 2 receiver job.

Panthers

  • Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer writes that Panthers LT Matt Kalil did not play well in Friday’s preseason game, but there are “no other options” at left tackle.
  • Person believes the Panthers must sign a veteran backup for Khalil.

Vikings

  • The Vikings announced that CB Mackensie Alexander is questionable after sustaining an ankle injury in Saturday’s preseason game.
  • Vikings RB Johnny Stanton was carted off the field from Saturday’s game. (Chris Tomasson)
  • Vikings HC Mike Zimmer said some of the players injured during Saturday’s game will be placed on injured reserve, including OT Cedric Lang, who is scheduled to undergo surgery. (Tom Pelissero)
  • Zimmer added that OT Mike Remmers “should” return to the lineup this week.
  • Regarding Vikings C Pat Elflien, Zimmer said he “has a chance” to be activated from the PUP list this week. (Tom Pelissero)
  • Zimmer also said he is unsure if Vikings OT Rashod Hill will return within the next week. (Chris Tomasson)
  • Vikings DE Ade Aruna was seen on crutches with a right knee injury after Saturday’s game, but Zimmer doesn’t know if he is out for the season or not. (Chris Tomasson)
