NFC Notes: Cowboys, Lions, Saints

Cowboys

  • Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes that Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is “woefully underpaid” given that he’ll make just $680,000 for the 2018 season.
  • Dallas can’t do anything about this until 2019 at the earliest, which leaves Prescott as the best bargain in the NFL by a wide margin.
  • Florio says that when the times for the Cowboys to decide whether to sign Prescott long-term, they would be justified in looking around a bit before making a serious commitment to Prescott.

Lions

  • Based on his first two drafts, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press has noticed a few tendencies from Lions GM Bob Quinn.
  • Birkett points out that Quinn tends to targets needs and players who have a high-floor. Beyond that, Birkett says that Quinn also looks for off-field traits that can help a player reach their full potential.
  • With this in mind, Birkett believes the Lions should draft Boston College DE/OLB Harold Landry in round 1.

Saints

  • Larry Holder of the Times-Picayune writes that free agent S Kenny Vaccaro is “likely on his way out.”
  • Holder could see the Saints bringing back DE Alex Okafor and OL Senio Kelemete at the right price.
  • As for the Saints’ restricted free agents, Holder can’t see New Orleans tendering an offer to WR Brandon Coleman.
  • Holder says that the Saints could possibly offer WR Willie Snead a contract that would pay him less than the $1.9 million he’d make under the original-round tender.
  • Holder thinks the original-round tender could make sense for the Saints to use on CB Delvin Breaux, even though they had him on the trading block last year before he was placed on injured reserve.
