NFC Notes: Cowboys, Lions, Seahawks

Cowboys

  • Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Thursday that it’s his hope that suspended DE Randy Gregory plays for them in 2018. (Clarence Hill)
  • Jones confirmed the recent report that Gregory is preparing to apply for reinstatement with the Cowboys help. (NFLTR)
  • However, Jones added that while he’s hopeful for Gregory, he’s also not confident that he’ll be reinstated, given that it’s a circuitous process that includes a medical and psychological assessment.
  • Jones says he’s stuck by Gregory because he’s a good person, a smart person and a “damn good player.” (Clarence Hill)

Lions

New Lions HC Matt Patricia says he’s hoping to give QB Matthew Stafforda little bit different perspective.

“I would hope that maybe I could come in and give him a little bit different perspective,” Patricia said, via the Detroit News. “Maybe something from my point of view from playing against him a couple times, and just certain things that I look at when we’re going against other quarterbacks that might help him out. Maybe some different ways to look at defense, from that standpoint. Try to look at some different alignments or different coverages or different fronts, and then help him from that standpoint.

Seahawks

  • Brady Henderson reports that the Seahawks signed DE Marcus Smith to a one-year deal worth $1.425 million. (NFLTR)
  • According to Henderson, Smith’s contract breaks down to a $800,000 base salary, $400,000 signing bonus and $225,000 in per-game active roster bonuses.
