NFC Notes: Dez Bryant, Cardinals, Falcons, & Rams

Dez Bryant

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the Cowboys “showed trust” in Dez Bryant with their new agreement that includes “more lenient” protection language in regards to guaranteed money.
  • While other deals typically void guarantees if a player misses time, Dallas elected to not include this kind of language in Bryant’s contract, despite the reported concerns, according to Rapoport.

Cardinals

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer said he’s “not even thinking about” his surgically repaired knee at this point in the offseason.

“I’m not even thinking about my knee,” Palmer said via AzCardinals.com. “I’m still rehabbing just to be on the safe side of things but I don’t need to be at rehab. I’m full go in the weight room, full go on the field, and until it’s brought up, I haven’t thought about what I’m not doing because I’m doing everything I was doing.

Falcons

Falcons WR Roddy White tells Josina Anderson that he believes Atlanta should address WR Julio Jones‘ contract sooner rather than later.

“If I was the GM I would get a deal done with Julio (Jones) now. I want to make sure he’s paid. That’s my guy,” said White, per Anderson.

White added: “The more they wait, the more it’s going to cost them. It’s important that he feels comfortable.

Rams

According to Nick Wagoner of ESPN, it’s unlikely that the Rams will sign both CBs Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson to long-term deals.

Wagoner believes the Rams would elect to take care of Jenkins if they were forced to make a decision right now.

In the end, Wagoner seems to think E.J. Gaines will win the starting job opposite of Jenkins and Lamarcus Joyner operating in the slot.

This means Johnson and Marcus Roberson would serve primarily as depth.
