NFC Notes: Eagles, Falcons, Giants, Redskins

Eagles

Eagles HC Doug Pederson said that he expects veteran LT Jason Peters to be back with the team next year.

“This guy is a Pro Bowl left tackle,” Pederson said Wednesday, via Matt Lombardo of NJ.com. “Guys like that, in my humble opinion, they can go out whenever they want to go out. I respect him, and what he’s done, and how he’s working right now through injury. If you had to hold a gun to my head right now, I’d say ‘yeah, he’s my left tackle.'”

Falcons

Falcons’ veteran K Matt Bryant said he would like to play for two or three more years and hopes to retire with Atlanta.

I know I am capable. I’ve proven it. I am ready to play – I’ll play two-three more years in this league,” Bryant said, via AtlantaFalcons.com. “There’s obviously some curious times ahead to see where those two-three years happen. You know I’d like to finish it here with this organization. I guess I have a history here, so I’d like to finish it up here. But you don’t know.”

Last we heard regarding Bryant, Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said they plan to discuss a contract extension with the veteran kicker at some point in the near future. (NFLTR)

Giants

  • Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports that the Giants have hired Panthers director of player personnel Mark Koncz as a consultant.

Redskins

When asked whether Kirk Cousins wanted to play for the Redskins long-term, RB Chris Thompson said the team got “mixed messages” from the quarterback.

I think everybody got some mixed messages, I will say that,” said Thompson, via Scott Allen of the Washington Post. “I know for me, talking to Kirk, being with Kirk, all we talked about was, you know, ‘C.T., with you staying healthy, we can do this with you, we can do that with you,’ and we were able to do a lot of the things that Kirk wanted to do with me. We wanted to continue this, so for me, I expected him to be here. I knew it would be hard given that we want to win, but if you pay a guy [$30 million] a year, it’s going to sacrifice some other things as well, as far as helping our defense out, maybe getting some more receivers, or running backs and all those type of things. It’s kind of hard to say. I think everybody got a different feel about it, but I know Kirk enjoyed being with me and I enjoyed being with him, so I wanted him to be here and I think part of him wanted to be here, but at the end of the day, you gotta do whatever you think is best for you and your family.
