NFC Notes: Eagles, Lions, Panthers, Seahawks

Eagles

Lions

  • Field Yates reports that the Lions recently increased the salary of practice squad TE Hakeem Valles to an active roster rate of $31,765/week, which implies a team may have tried to sign him to their 53-man roster.

Panthers

  • According to Joseph Person, the Panthers have not reached out to free agent WR Philly Brown, and are unlikely to do so unless they sustain another injury occurs at the receiver position.

Seahawks

Newly signed CB Byron Maxwell said he still has something to prove and he’s looking forward to his second stint with the Seahawks.

“Definitely. Always, man,” Maxwell said. “It’s another opportunity to get out here and show what I can do so I’m looking forward to it. You’ve always got to prove yourself in this league no matter what. No matter if you’re Dwight Freeney, he’s out here trying to prove himself that he can still do it so no matter who you are, you’re still trying to prove that you can do it.”

“I’m just savvier, I’ve seen a lot more football,” Maxwell added. “Just more experienced. I’d like to think I’m still in my prime, so these years are when I should get the best out of my body right now. So I’m excited about the opportunity.

  • Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said S Kam Chancellor is still undergoing tests on his injured ankle and it will be a “couple days” before they have an update on his status. (Bob Condotta)
  • Regarding the team improperly following the league’s concussion protocol with QB Russell Wilson in Week 10, Carroll said the team is fully cooperating with the NFL in their investigation. (Bob Condotta)
