NFC Notes: Eagles, Packers, Panthers

Eagles

Eagles QB Carson Wentz‘s surgeon, Dr. Jim Bradley, said Philadelphia should take a “cautious approach” with Wentz’s recovery from his knee injury.

It should be a cautious approach. What’s a few games over 12 to 15 years,” said Bradley, via John Clark of NBC.

Bradley added that the quarterback sustained “much more” damage to his knee than just a torn ACL and there is a lesser chance of a rupture if Wentz waits to play.

The Eagles are reportedly planning to start Nick Foles in Week 1 (NFLTR).

Packers

  • Ryan Wood reports that the Packers are still looking to acquire an outside linebacker after missing out on Khalil MackWood adds that he “wouldn’t be surprised” to see the Packers sign a veteran pass rusher.
  • The Packers elected to keep eight receivers on their 53-man roster on Saturday. However, Green Bay is reportedly looking to trade WR Trevor Davis. (NFLTR)

Panthers

  • According to Ian Rapoport, Panthers LT Matt Kalil (knee) is “not expected” to be ready for Week 1 after undergoing a “cleanup” procedure on August 21.
  • Tom Pelissero reports that there’s no clear timeline on Kalil’s return from a knee scope, but a source tells him that Kalil will miss time. Pelissero notes that Carolina has a bye in Week 4, which could be the logical point to let him recover through that and then return.
