NFC Notes: Earl Thomas, Cardinals, Cowboys

Earl Thomas

Seahawks S Earl Thomas, who is reportedly being discussed in trade offers with teams including the Chiefs and Cowboys, said that some members of the Dallas coaching staff actually approached him before the game and asked him if he was “ready for the trade tomorrow?‘”

“Yeah, of course, I heard chatter, people were coming up to me and saying a trade might happen,” Thomas said, via Pro Football Talk. “Even pregame, a couple Cowboys coaches came up to me, I don’t know if they were playing psychological games, but they were like, ‘You ready for the trade tomorrow?‘”

Thomas admitted that it’s possible the Cowboys’ coaches were simply joking with him.

“I don’t know if they were joking or serious or not. I was just minding my business and my routine and they came up and a couple guys said something,” Thomas said.

Thomas came away with two interceptions against the Cowboys in what could prove to be his final game for the Seahawks.

“If it was, I had a damn good time. I’d go out like that if I had to,” Thomas said. “I just want to be appreciated. That’s it.

Cardinals

Regarding the decision to bring in rookie QB Josh Rosen to make his NFL debut with just over four minutes remaining in Sunday’s game and down by two points, Cardinals HC Steve Wilks said he felt they needed a “spark” on offense.

“Well, I felt like we needed a spark,” Wilks said, via NFL.com. “Again, we got out to an early start, 14 points, got a little stagnant there and wanted to try to spark the time, and that’s the reason why I made that decision.”

Wilks mentioned that he felt Rosen actually looked “pretty good” in his limited action.

“Thought he looked pretty good,” Wilks said. “Inconsistent in the end. We’ve got to do a good job for his protection, giving him time. But under the circumstances right there, being thrown into the game at that time, I thought he did well.

As for what the plan will be at quarterback moving forward, Wilks said: “We’re going to evaluate Josh as well as Sam and we’ll watch the tape and we’ll see exactly what I want to do as far as moving forward with that.

Cowboys

Cowboys LB Sean Lee aggravated his hamstring injury during Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks and doesn’t sound overly optimistic about his status moving forward.

“Felt something, some tightness,” Lee said, per Brandon George. “Hopefully it will be a quick turnaround. Same deal, but you never know.”

Lee added that he’s scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of his injury.

“We’ll see. It’s one of those deals,” Lee said.
