NFC Notes: Kam Chancellor, Packers, Rams

Kam Chancellor

Former Seahawks DE Cliff Avril said he believes S Kam Chancellor is making the right decision to retire from the NFL instead of prolonging his career and risking his health.

He’s making the right decision,” Avril said, via SiriusXM NFL Radio. “No one wants to leave the game on someone else’s terms, I guess, in a sense. But at the same time, your health is way more important than any of this stuff. What good does it do for you to play this game for a long time, make a lot of money, but then at the end of it, you can’t enjoy it? So for him, I think that’s the approach he’s taking right now and I can appreciate that, where he’s at with that.”

He’s going to continue to do great things, I believe. But him leaving the game right now, unfortunately it’s too early, but he’s a heck of a ballplayer and everybody will definitely remember him,” added Avril.

Packers

Packers RB Aaron Jones announced on social media that he accepts full responsibility for violating the league’s substance abuse policy after receiving a four-game suspension.

“The NFL announced my suspension today,” said Jones on Twitter. “I accept it, take responsibility for it, and regret the mistake that I made during the 2017 season which led to the punishment. I’ve let down my family, teammates, coaches, the Packers’ front office, Packers’ fans, UTEP, UTEP fans, and the communities of El Paso and Green Bay. I apologize to all impacted and promise that this will never happen again and when I touch the field again it’s going to be special.

Rams

Rams DL Michael Brockers said the team is not paying attention to the high expectations they have received from the media.

We have to be careful not to buy into what the media is saying about us,” said Brockers, via ProFootballTalk. “A lot of people are picking us, but we have to focus on us — do our due diligence and like coach [McVay] says, ‘Every day we have to be better.’”
