NFC Notes: Lions, Packers, Seahawks

Lions

Packers

Former Packers QB Brett Favre said during an interview with “Wilde and Tausch that he recently spoke with Aaron Rodgers and they discussed his prior comments about it not being his job to get Rodgers ready to play.

“We talked about that,” said Favre, referencing the not-mentoring-Rodgers quote, via Aaron Nagler of PackersNews.com. “He said, ‘I get it now. I get what you were saying, or how you carried yourself.’

There is no clause that says ‘You groom the next guy who’s going to take your job, or else.’ It doesn’t work that way.”

Favre added that they also talked about seeing their friends depart over time.

“You see a lot of guys come and go,” Favre said. “You look around and I’m the last man standing. Very few guys get to experience that because of the longevity standpoint.

  • Packers OC Joe Philbin explained that the team’s offense has evolved over the years and is now more multiple than in years past: “Football has evolved even since then. It’s a little more multiple. There’s a little more to it. I think we are a little more multiple formationally than we were then probably. We probably move around more pre-snap maybe than we did back then.” (PackersNews.com)

Seahawks

Former Seahawks DE Michael Bennett tells Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times that he was “shocked’’ by the trade that sent him to the Eagles this offseason.

“Me being traded is part of the business,’’  Bennett said. “But it doesn’t make it any easier.’’
