NFC Notes: Packers, Redskins, Seahawks

Packers

New Packers OLB Ahmad Brooks admitted he was “kind of scared” and “afraid” of the uncertainty that came following his release from the 49ers.

“I was pessimistic at first because I was afraid of change, you know what I’m saying?” Brooks said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “I’m so comfortable being where I’m at, having a house and my family and stuff like that. Everything felt established, man. It was just the uncertainty, you know? I didn’t know what to expect. I was kind of scared. I was kind of afraid.

“Now that I’m here and got around the fellas, started loosening up, started easing up, and my personality can start coming out now,” Brooks added.

Brooks was upfront about the reasons he signed with the Packers.

“I just think that Green Bay offered me the best contract,” Brooks said. “They had the best team. I wanted to be a part of a winning tradition, a winning organization. And coming here gives me that.”

Redskins

Washington S Su’a Cravens offered a few comments on Snapchat regarding the reports that the considered retiring from the NFL before Washington was able to change his mind.

“I don’t feel like I need to explain myself. I don’t feel like I have to. I think I need to follow what makes me happy, get my mental right, my well-being right, my family right,” Cravens said, via Master Tesfatsion of the Washington Post.

Cravens explained that he’s not worried about what people may think about this.

“I’m not worried about the comments or what people think about me.

“I’mma be a lot more open with y’all now that I can, not that I have nobody to answer to at the moment,” Cravens said. “I’mma be open with y’all. Y’all are really gonna get to know me. You can hate me, you can love me, but there will be no gray area or in-between. I don’t prefer it any other way.”

Seahawks

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll told reporters on Monday that second-round DL Malik McDowell will be around the team regularly moving forward.

He’ll be with us in and out more regularly now just to kind of start the process of having him re-enter,” Carroll said, via Pro Football Talk. “We are trying to work him back in with us and just reconnect and make sure that he has a sense of coming to work and all that kind of stuff and he feels comfortable about that with no demands on him at this time.”
