NFC Notes: Rams, Saints, Seahawks

Rams

  • Lindsay Thiry of ESPN writes that DT Ndamukong Suh could command a large contract in free agency, one far out of the range of what the Rams could afford.
  • Thiry says that the franchise tag is unlikely to be an option for the Rams, seeing as it would cost them $14 million for the 2019 season.
  • As for DE/OLB Dante Fowler Jr, Thiry mentions that it’s unclear if he made a good enough impression on the team to warrant a long-term commitment.
  • Thiry says it remains to be seen whether or not the Rams will place a premium on the safety position a year after franchising Lamarcus Joyner.

Saints

  • An agent, who spoke with Albert Breer, raised the possibility of the Saints transitioning tagging QB Teddy Bridgewater to ensure they have matching rights on any contract he receives from another team.
  • However, the transition tag for quarterbacks is expected to be over $20 million, which could prove to be too prohibitive for New Orleans from a cap perspective.

Seahawks

  • Brady Henderson expects the Seahawks to franchise DE Frank Clark in the coming weeks and continue working on a long-term extension before the July deadline.
