NFC Rumors: Buccaneers, Lions, Packers, Panthers

Buccaneers

  • According to Albert Breer, Buccaneers HC Dirk Koetter is “likely to be gone” after the season, but the situation involving GM Jason Licht is “murkier” right now.
  • Breer adds that the Buccaneers’ job is the one Mike McCarthy has been connected most to.

Lions

  • According to Albert Breer, Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter is the first team he hears when the subject of coaching changes for Detroit comes up.
  • Breer adds that Lions HC Matt Patricia has a potential replacement for Cooter already on his staff in QBs coach George Godsey.

Packers

  • According to Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com, multiple sources have brought up Northwestern HC Pat Fitzgerald in connection to the Packers’ head-coaching vacancy.
  • This is notable, given that Packers president Mark Murphy previously hired Fitzgerald for the job at Northwestern several years ago.

Panthers

  • Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports that Panthers GM Marty Hurney has built a good rapport with new owner David Tepper and both he and HC Ron Rivera are “very likely” to return for 2019.
  • Breer doesn’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that someone could be added to the football operations department.
