NFC South Notes: Buccaneers, Falcons, Panthers

Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the following hires for their strength and conditioning staff:

  • Anthony Piroli – Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
  • Roger Kingdom – Speed & Conditioning Coach
  • Michael Stacchiotti – Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach
  • Chad Wade – Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Falcons

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said that he doesn’t think they need to make a number of “bold moves” this offseason, but they have some “regrouping to do on a number of different areas.”

“I don’t think necessarily we need to make a whole bunch of bold moves,” Dimitroff said, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I think we have some really good football players on this team. We have a very good coaching staff and a head coach who knows how to get the most out of everyone. We have some regrouping to do on a number of different areas, of course. I don’t necessarily think that means dropping a ton of money in free agency. I think there is a draft out there that can be very beneficial to us potentially on both sides of the ball. Front-wise you can acquire in the draft as well. We will be very manageable and mindful about how we are going to be approaching free agency. We are not just going to throw money at it for the sake of it.

Panthers

Panthers HC Ron Rivera said QB Cam Newton (arthroscopic shoulder surgery) has already shown “marked improvement.”

“I was there on one of his recovery days when (Newton) was working out,” Rivera said, via the Charlotte Observer. “And one of the things he did say was that he has gotten a lot of range of motion back. So that was exciting to hear.

  • Joe Person reports that TE Chris Manhertz‘s new two-year deal with the Panthers is worth $2.3 million and includes a $320k signing bonus.
