NFC South Notes: Buccaneers, Falcons, Saints

Buccaneers

Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson was asked about his trade request on Wednesday and remaining in Tampa Bay.

Whatever them conversations were, they were between us,” Jackson said, via the Tampa Bay Times. “It’s over and done with now, and I’m looking forward. We’ve got eight games left to continue to try our best to get in the playoffs and win here.”

Falcons

On Wednesday, the Falcons agreed to a one-year contract with veteran DE Bruce Irvin.

Regarding the move, Falcons HC Dan Quinn said they’re “looking forward to getting him on the field as soon as possible.

“We know exactly how Bruce will fit into our team on the field, and just as importantly into our locker room,” Quinn said. “He will add to our rotation along the defensive line, while adding to our pass rush. He is familiar with our scheme and we are familiar with he strengths, so we are looking forward to getting him on the field as soon as possible.

Saints

Saints QB Drew Brees said he’s excited to welcome newly signed WR Dez Bryant to the team.

“Dez has been a really good player in this league for a long time and there’s certainly a skillset he has that is going to be beneficial,” Brees said, via NFL.com. “I look forward to working with him. I look forward to building a rapport with him. I look forward to getting him involved in this offense and just become a complement to all the guys that we already have.”
