NFC West Notes: 49ers, Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks

49ers

  • 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said that the decision to play RB Raheem Mostert over Alfred Morris isn’t permanent and simply came down to what they felt worked best against the Packers. (Cam Inman)
  • Shanahan said that newly signed QB Tom Savage is not competing for backup quarterback job and that spot belongs to Nick Mullens. (Matt Maiocco)

Cardinals

Rams

Seahawks

  • An NFL source tells Mark Maske that he doesn’t believe that anything will necessarily be resolved any time soon regarding the Seahawks’ ownership situation, but added of the eventual outcome: “I would guess they’ll be sold.”
  • Colts owner Jim Irsay says he expects the Seahawks to be sold but remain in Seattle: “I’m just guessing but I would have to believe his wishes are going to make sure that whoever buys it retains that market as where the team will stay.” (Mark Maske)
  • Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned that he can’t see the team not staying in Seattle: “Oh, I can’t imagine the Seahawks not in Seattle. That isn’t even a thought. As a matter of fact, he was so instrumental in establishing that certainty, so it would be, really, a little unjust, if the thing that he did the most for the NFL and sports was to stabilize the Seahawk franchise.”
