NFC West Notes: 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks

49ers

49ers DL Solomon Thomas admitted that he felt some pressure after the team used the No. 3 overall pick on him last year.

“I tried to brush it by, but sometimes my mind would just get ahold of it and I’d be frantic out there,” Thomas said, via NBC Bay Area. “I wouldn’t be myself — just thinking too much. I’m an over-thinker. That’s what I do sometimes. But I’ve taken a couple of breaths this year and calmed down and started taking it bit by bit, step by step, and attacked it, and just gone out there and played ball, and go be a beast. So that’s what I’m here to do. That’s what I’m going to do.

Cardinals

Former Cardinals first-round DL Robert Nkemdiche says he’s confident he can be an impact player in 2018.

“I know I can,” Nkemdiche said, via Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic. “I know I can be dominant on a consistent basis throughout the year, and that’s what I’m going to be and that’s what I’m going to do.

“It’s only because of what I’ve been doing in the offseason to make sure I am consistent and I have the ability to do that throughout the season. I’m going to be that guy for the Cardinals and be that guy for the teammates and be that guy for the guys who put the work in just like I do.

Seahawks

  • Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said that he expects every player on the 90-man roster to be in attendance for the start of mandatory minicamp next week including S Earl Thomas, via Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times.
  • Carroll specifically mentioned RB Chris Carson as a player who has stood out in offseason workouts: “He’s just looked so fit and just so cut and quick and explosive and all of that. He’s the guy that just stood out in that regard.’’
  • Carroll said that RB C.J. Prosise is battling for a roster spot, but added he’s “really jumped out” this offseason.
  • According to Carroll, OT George Fant (ACL) should be ready for training camp: “George could probably get out there now if we needed him to, but it’s just not worth it to do that.
