According to Jason Cole of B/R, Notre Dame OT Ronnie Stanley is widely considered the top offensive lineman in this year’s draft class.
However, there are reportedly concerns from NFL evaluators about his work ethic. Cole mentions that some are concerned about Stanley’s decision to train in Las Vegas in preparation for this year’s Scouting Combine.
An NFL GM tells Cole that this isn’t like preparing for an All-Star event. The GM said they want to see him take the draft process seriously and apparently going to Las Vegas to train doesn’t fit with what they’d like to see from him.
While Cole says Stanley is considered the top offensive lineman this year, many draft experts actually have Ole Miss OT Laremy Tunsil ahead of him, including Mike Mayock.
There’s even been talk that Tunsil could be the No. 1 overall pick by the Titans, as they look to bolster their offensive line for Marcus Mariota.
That’s not to say that Stanley isn’t a top prospect. Mayock actually ranks him as the No. 2 offensive tackle.
However, it looks like Stanley has something to prove at this year’s Combine, despite teams recognizing that he could be an impact player in the NFL.

The fact that Ronnie Stanley’s grew up in Las Vegas might have something to do with it. He graduated from HS powerhouse Bishop Gorman there. One of the premier HS teams annually in the country. Funny how the article does not mention any of that. Even Mayock should know that for as long as he has followed the Irish.
