NFL News: Jets Cutting Taylor, Jenkins, Gholston and Woodly

So it appears that the New York Jets are ready to move on without a number of veteran players.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the team will cut DE Jason Taylor, DE Kris Jenkins, OLB Vernon Gholston and OL Damien Woody.

These moves will allow the Jets to leverage the financial situation and also opens up a number of options for them. HBO’s “Hard Knocks” did a great job of garnering interest in their team and since then several players have made it known that they would love to play for Rex Ryan which should allow them to sign players to more cost-efficient contracts. Considering the amount of money that the team has dished out in the last few years as well as the players that they are attempting to re-sign, it makes a lot of sense.
