NFL News: Jets Keeping Tomlinson

ESPNNewYork.com’s Rich Cimini reports that the New York Jets will keep LaDainian Tomlinson around for the 2011 season. Cimini mentions that Tomlinson’s play against the Indianapolis Colts helped convince the Jets front office that he was worth securing for the coming season.

Tomlinson did a good job of producing for the team during the early part of the season but only managed to score one touchdown after week six. It would make a lot of sense for the Jets to get more out of Shonn Greene and use LT as a compliment considering that Greene is their back of the future. Tomlinson will make $2.4 million for the 2011 season so the team isn’t taking on a huge financial burden by keeping him.
