NFL News: Saints Release Jeremy Shockey

Jay Glazer of Fox reports that the New Orleans Saints will cut Jeremy Shockey after three years with the team. This move is not shocking considering Shockey’s decline in performance over the last two seasons and his $4.7 million salary for 2011.

The move will clear the way for Jimmy Graham who the team appears to be prepping for the starting tight end job. New Orleans will likely consider bringing back David Thomas, who is set to become a free agent as of March 4th, as their backup.

The Saints should now focus their attention on Reggie Bush’s crazy $11.8 million contract for next season.
