NFL News: Broncos Lose Demaryius Thomas

Early on in the 2010 season it appeared that Demaryius Thomas was going to be able to fill the void that was left after the team traded Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins. Thomas wound up dealing with a foot injury for the majority of the season while Brandon Lloyd stepped up and became Pro Bowl wide receiver for Denver.

Unfortunately for Broncos fans, several media outlets reported yesterday that Demaryius Thomas tore his Achilles Tendon while working out in Georgia. The Broncos stated that he is expected to miss 6-8 months while recovering.

Coming back from an injury that’s as serious as a torn Achilles tendon is a pretty tall task. Tearing your Achilles effects players ability to push down on their foot which can eliminate their speed and explosiveness, something that’s required of skill position players like wide receivers.

Then when you consider that Eddie Royal just underwent surgery last week, Denver will it’s work cut out for them in 2011.
