NFL Notes: Robert Nkemdiche, Draft, 49ers, Dolphins & Eagles

Robert Nkemdiche

  • According to Matt Miller of B/R, multiple teams are interested in Ole Miss DE Robert Nkemdiche and are not overly concerned about the off-the-field incident he had in college.
  • Miller mentions that teams drafting in the top five are evaluating Nkemdiche as though he’ll be a top-five pick with the Cowboys at No. 4 and Chargers at No. 3 showing the most interest in him.
  • Miller believes the Cowboys and Titans would both be great fits for him in the NFL.

Draft

  • Ohio State WR Braxton Miller interviewed with the Falcons at the Senior Bowl. (D. Orlando Ledbetter)
  • According to Tony Pauline of Draft Insider, the Patriots spent a lot of time speaking with North Dakota OT Joe Haeg Tuesday morning.
  • Pauline adds that the Patriots will meet with Stanford QB Kevin Hogan Tuesday night.
  • Dan Kadar reports the Seahawks spoke with Baylor DE Shawn Oakman on Tuesday and asked him if he can bulk up from the 269 pounds he weighed in to the Senior Bowl with.
  • Eliot Shorr-Parks reports that Kansas State G Cody Whitehair will meet with the Eagles on Wednesday.
  • Oklahoma WR Sterling Shepard said he has spent a lot of time speaking with the Jets at the Senior Bowl practices. (Paul Schwartz)

49ers

  • Matt Maiocco notes that Jason Tarver will remain as the 49ers’ OLB coach after missing out on the defensive coordinator opportunity to Jim O’Neil.

Dolphins

  • According to Jason Fitzgerald of OverTheCap.com, a maximum restructure of Dolphins DT Ndamukong Suh‘s contract would produce cap hits: $10.4 million. 2017’s cap hit: $19.6 million. 2018’s cap hit: $26.6 million. 2019’s cap hit: $28.6 million. 2020’s cap hit: $22.9 million.
  • Fitzpatrick adds that this restructure would increase his dead money from the $10.2 million to $23.8 million in 2018.
  • In addition, the dead money for 2019 would jump to $14.2 million from $5.1 million.

Eagles

Josh Paunil of Philadelphia Magazine considers it a possibility for Chiefs G Jeff Allen to follow new HC Doug Pederson to the Eagles.

Allen has said that he wants to return to Kansas City while adding “it takes two sides.”

I would like to be back here,” Allen said earlier in January, via The Topeka Capital-Journal. “But honestly it takes two sides. I’ll leave it at that.

However, Joel Corry thinks the Chiefs must re-sign Allen and could do so under a multi-year deal at around $4 million per year.
