NFL Notes: Peyton Manning & Broncos

Peyton Manning

Archie Manning tells Jeff Darlington that he thinks Peyton’s days in Denver are over, and added that Peyton likely knows if he’ll retire, but hasn’t discussed this with him.

Archie said Peyton “would have to go to another team” and sounded very pessimistic he would be willing to do so at his age, per Ian O’Connor.

  • Corry adds that Manning will earn  the last $2 million of the $4 million pay cut he took by winning the Super Bowl.
  • The Broncos will want to know what Manning plans relatively soon, according to Corry, as $19 million of 2016 salary becomes fully guaranteed on the last day of 2015 league year (March 8).

Broncos

  • Joel Corry mentions that the Broncos will pick up $29 million of salary cap space if QB Peyton Manning and OLB DeMarcus Ware both retire.
  • Corry fully expects OLB Von Miller to ask the Broncos to pay him more than what Dolphins DT Ndamukong Suh is making — $19,062,500 per year with $59.955 million guaranteed.
