NFL Notes: 49ers, Bears, Packers, Raiders

49ers

  • 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said when asked if he’s considering benching Brian Hoyer: “No, I wouldn’t. … You don’t want to lose perspective.” (Matt Maiocco)
  • Shanahan added that they aren’t considering rookie QB C.J. Beathard as their starter at this point: “You don’t want to make drastic changes [this early].” (Matt Barrows)
  • Shanahan said he would be surprised if rookie LB Reuben Foster returns this week. (Matt Maiocco)

Bears

  • Brad Biggs reports that the Bears brought in LB Jason Thompson (signed to practice squad) and S Jordan Moore for tryouts on Monday.

Packers

  • Packers RB Ty Montgomery said Monday night that he has “multiple” broken ribs, but is “feeling a lot better.” (Jason Wilde)
  • Montgomery is still hoping to play against the Cowboys, but he’s “wary of risking something more serious,” like injuring “internal organs.” (Jason Wilde)

Raiders

  • Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the Raiders have no plans to add another quarterback right now and plan to move forward with EJ Manuel as their starter for as long as Derek Carr is out.
  • A source Josina Anderson of the Raiders’ quarterback plans and the possibility of signing a free agent such as Colin Kaepernick: “EJ is the guy. Not yet with Kap.”
