NFL Notes: 49ers, Buccaneers, Cowboys, Patriots & Texans

49ers

Matt Maiocco CSN Bay Area reports that 49ers TE Vernon Davis called out QB Colin Kaepernick and LT Joe Staley came to Kaepernick’s defense.

According to Maiocco, the exchange between the players became heated and may have gotten physical. However, Davis, Staley and Kaepernick cleared the air within the next few days.

Buccaneers

Buccaneers HC Lovie Smith told reporters that TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins is “not there yet” in regarding to his recovery from a shoulder strain.

Most of you out there saw Austin Seferian-Jenkins be able to get into pads and do a little bit, so it’s a step in the right direction with him,” Smith said, via PewterReport.com. “Once we get him back – disregarding the receivers – it’s going to help our offense. We’re not there yet.”

Smith was also asked about the reports that WR Vincent Jackson could be out multiple weeks with a knee injury.

“We’re not there,” Smith said. “He didn’t practice today. He has a knee injury. As far as multiple [weeks], we’re not ready to go into much more detail than that because we don’t know a lot more. [It] hasn’t been that long since the game. [He] wasn’t able to finish the game. [He] wasn’t able to practice today, so that’s where we are at right now.”

Cowboys

  • Cowboys HC Jason Garrett announced Thursday that RB Joseph Randle is out for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks due to an oblique strain. (Desmond Purnell)
  • Garrett added Randle was not going to play on Sunday anyway due to his injury, but he’s dealing with “personal matters” that will effect his rehab. (Desmond Purnell)

Patriots

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdominal injury) will play against the Dolphins tonight.
  • According to Rapoport, Lewis elected to sit out Sunday’s game to get healthy for Week 8.

Texans
