Seahawks
Joel Corry of CBS Sports mentions that it wouldn’t be a “smart business decision” for the Seahawks to retain RB Marshawn Lynch at his current price — $5 million base salary and $2 million in per-game roster bonuses.
“It’s not a smart business decision to pay a running back big money in ages 29-31,’’ Corry said, via Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. “You see that when teams have a back that is approaching 30, they are trying to find alternatives. They (the Seahawks) are going to be looking at the fact that he’s going to have 2,000 regular-season carries (he has 1,885 right now). That’s high mileage for a running back.”
Condotta adds that Seattle will need additional cap space if they are to address the contracts of QB Russell Wilson, MLB Bobby Wagner, DE Cliff Avril and LB K.J. Wright.
This will be a fascinating topic to watch in the coming months.
