NFL Notes: 49ers, Chargers, Falcons, Steelers

49ers

  • Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that Falcons offensive assistant Mike LaFleur is likely to join Kyle Shanahan’s staff with the 49ers. However, Maiocco adds that Falcons QBs coach Matt LaFleur probably will not be following Shanahan to San Francisco.
  • Alex Marvez reports that Shanahan’s staff will include Jon Embree (TEs/Asst HC), Jeff Hafley (DBs) and Jason Tarver.
  • Marvez adds that Shanahan targeting is considering Robert Saleh and Jerome Henderson as co-defensive coordinators
  • According to Marvez, Shanahan is targeting Falcons’ staff member Mike McDaniel as the team’s new WRs coach.

Chargers

  • Michael Gehlken reports that the Chargers had closed in on hiring Robert Saleh as next LBs coach, but they now consider the post still to be vacant with the 49ers attempting to hire him as their defensive coordinator.

Falcons

  • Vaughn McClure reports that Falcons RT Ryan Schraeder suffered torn a ligament in his ankle during Super Bowl 51.
  • The good news for Schraeder is that he isn’t expected to require surgery and be feeling normal in “a good month.

Steelers

  • According to Omar Kelly, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Steelers WR Antonio Brown and his camp attempt to force a trade out of Pittsburgh.
  • This would be a big surprise, considering that the two parties are reportedly discussing an extension. (NFLTR)
