NFL Notes: Johnny Manziel, Broncos, Chiefs, & Seahawks

Johnny Manziel

Mike Sando of ESPN spoke to numerous sources around the league about the possibility of the Browns trading QB Johnny Manziel next year.

They way things are shaping up, the Browns figure to be drafting in the top five, and have new leadership in place, which means they would be in great position to draft another quarterback to build around.

Picking that high, you have a chance to get someone who you really think is going to be the guy, someone who is a unifier in your building,” an executive tells Sando. “If you are the team owner, you say, ‘Manziel may or may not be the guy. He is 5-foot-10 and has big question marks. Look at Jameis Winston or even Marcus Mariota. Those are real starting quarterbacks. That is what we have to have.‘”

Keeping Manziel around while drafting quarterback may only create more issues for the Browns.

“Johnny clouds the issue if he is there,” the exec said. “You want it to be the new kid’s team.

Sando tosses out the Cowboys, Rams and Eagles as three teams that could offer a draft for Manziel.
