NFL Notes: 49ers, Jets, Rams

49ers veteran LB NaVorro Bowman says he feels disrespected and that people are underrating him now that he’s dealt with injuries the past few years.

For the respect not to be presented and given, it just doesn’t make sense to me,” Bowman told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Bowman took exception to the fact that he wasn’t included in the NFL Network’s Top 100 players list.

“It’s still a joke,” Bowman said. “I’m getting paid like a top-100 player. What more do you want? They’re not giving away money. I’ve earned every single thing I have.”

“A healthy Bowman is still the best linebacker in the NFL,” Bowman added. “What else has stopped me? A knee and an Achilles. What else? What else can you say about me?

Rams HC Sean McVay said he’s still “optimistic” DT Aaron Donald will report to the team before Sunday’s game.

“He is not ruled out, but right now he’s not here. Guys are ready to go and we’re getting a plan in place and the preparation goes on,” McVay said, via NFL.com. “Fortunately, we’ve got a bunch of guys that we feel confident in that are ready to step up. Like we said, our message continues to remain the same: If he’s here, great, we’ll accept him back with open arms. But in the meantime we’ve got to get ready to play a football game and we know the Colts are getting ready as well.

McVay would not, however, put a deadline on when Donald would need to return in order to play this week.

Knowing that Sunday at 1 o’clock that ball is going to be kicked off and we’ve got to be ready to go, we’d love to have ’99’ be a part of it,” McVay said. “But if not, I have a lot of confidence in the defensive line and our defense as a whole that they’ll be ready to go and they’ll have a great week of preparation.”
