NFL Notes: Colts, Dolphins, Falcons, & Raiders

Colts

Colts OL Denzelle Good received reps at right guard during OTAs and is prepared to convert to that position.

I’m not taking anything away from anyone else, but I do feel like I’m one of the more athletic guys for my size,” said Good, via Stephen Holder. “I played tackle last year, and it was a good experience being on the edge. Everything there was about showing patience. Now, everything is like right in your face. And I always felt I was a better run blocker than pass blocker. So, I feel like being in there is suiting me well. Everything is much more compact.”

Colts S Mike Adams said he hopes to remain with Indianapolis after this season, but recognizes he is in a contract year with the team.

Yeah, I think about that sometimes,’’ said Adams, via Mike Chappel. “This is my last year, contract-wise. I want to be a Colt. I don’t want to move. I don’t want to do anything else.

This is my year to prove it, to let them know I’m valuable, I’ve still got it, I still can play. Not just (prove it) here, but to everybody in the league. I’ve tried to build my brand and get the respect of the league. I think I’ve done that.”

Dolphins

  • Dolphins DTs Earl Mitchell and Jordan Phillips are competing for the starting role opposite of Ndamukong Suh. (Barry Jackson)
  • Mitchell confirmed he is competing for a starting spot, saying: “It’s a competition,” Mitchell said. “Whenever there’s a competition, you want to win. You never want to look at it like that [not caring about starting]. That’s the worst thing you can do. Whatever I can do to push him, whatever he can do to push me, we’re both welcoming that.”

Falcons

Falcons RB Tevin Coleman received reps as a kickoff returner during Tuesday’s practice.

“Possibly as a kickoff returner,” said HC Dan Quinn, via D. Orlando Ledbetter. “With that speed and making one cut is very similar to playing running back. If he can add another value to the team, that’s certainly something that we’ll look at.”

Raiders

Raiders’ third-year DB Keith McGill is converting from cornerback to safety this offseason and received reps with the first- and second-team during Tuesday’s OTAs.

We just really felt like it was going to be hard for him at corner,” Del Rio said, via Scott Bair. “We feel he has his best opportunity to contribute on special teams and as a safety. We like his length. We like a lot of things about him. It’s just a matter of how far we can bring him, in terms of developing him, but that’s largely up to him. We’re going to give him every opportunity, knowing he can do some things at corner but we feel like his long-term future would be best served with him at safety.”

In addition, Raiders RT Menelik Watson practiced with the first-team, with Austin Howard recovering from a knee injury.
