Browns HC Hue Jackson told reporters on Wednesday that he isn’t ready to announce a starting quarterback at this point in the offseason.
Jackson did, however, offer some praise for Robert Griffin III, who has received the majority of the first-team reps during OTAs.
“He’s made tremendous strides,” Jackson said, via Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegram. “He’s getting better and growing each and every day. I’m very proud of the work he’s put in. I’ve said it from Day 1, that all of these guys just have to put their head down and work and he’s done that.”
- Ian Rapoport reports that Cowboys WR Dez Bryant had X-rays taken on Wednesday and can now take part in football drills.
- According to Rapoport, Bryant is still not all the way back, but can increase the amount of cutting he does on his foot.
“I’ve had conversations with Nick and we’re on the same page,” Fisher said, via NFL.com. “And we’re trying to work things out. “We’re in the process of sorting things out with Nick. It has nothing to do with him not wanting to come in and compete at all. He’s very, very competitive. We appreciate everything he did for us and his leadership (and) his teammates miss him.
“I think Nick has the feeling that if things stay the same heâs probably not going to be on the roster,” Fisher said. “But beyond that it was more of a mutual thing, not that we said don’t come. It was just say ‘Hey coach I’d just rather, I’d just rather stay away until we get things worked out.’ And I said I’m fine with that.”
- Nick Wagoner mentions that handing onto Foles could offer the Rams some insurance against an injury while keeping the possibility open of a potential deal down the road.
