NFL Notes: Adrian Peterson, Jameis Winston, Draft, Falcons, & Lions

Adrian Peterson

Mike Freeman of the Bleacher Report spoke to two general managers about Adrian Peterson being reinstated, and the executives specifically mentioned that Cowboys, the Cardinals and Raiders as teams that could be in place for the running back.

“The Cowboys are the front-runners,” one GM said, “but I actually believe the Raiders are right there.”

  • Kent Somers confirms that the Cardinals do, in fact, have interest in Peterson. But Somers adds that his future is in the Vikings’ hands.

Jameis Winston

According to Matt Miller of the Bleacher Report, the news that Florida State QB Jameis Winston has been sued for sexual assault allegations is not news to NFL teams.

  • Miller mentions that the Buccaneers won’t change their mind about Winston based on this news, seeing as no new information was presented.
  • Miller still expects Winston to be the No. 1 player in the draft.
  • However, Mike Florio has obtained a copy of the complaint filed Thursday against Winston, which mentions that a second woman had come forward and reported being sexually assaulted by the former Heisman Trophy winner.

Draft

  • Aaron Wilson reports that USC WR Nelson Agholor has worked out for the Eagles and Panthers, and also visited with the Bills.

Falcons

  • Ross Jones reports that Kentucky DE Za’Darius Smith will visit with the Falcons next week.

Lions

  • The Lions hosted Florida offensive lineman D.J. Humphries for a pre-draft visit on Thursday. (Tim Twentyman)
