NFL Notes: Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice, Bills, Patriots

Adrian Peterson

  • HC Mike Zimmer tells ESPN’s Ed Werder that he believes RB Adrian Peterson‘s preference is to eventually play for the Vikings.
  • Werder adds that the Vikings ownership and team management have tried throughout the season to get Peterson back on the field.

Ray Rice

Jason La Canfora reports that a ruling regarding Ray Rice‘s appeal is expected to come by Monday.

According to La Canfora, Rice has been advised that even if he’s reinstated, teams could shy away from him, even though there are some obvious teams in need of an upgrade at running back.

La Canfora believes Rice would benefit from a long offseason, new city, new locker room and some new coaches.

Bills

Jason La Canfora writes it remains a possibility the Bills could practice and stay somewhere other than Buffalo this week.

The Bills and NFL officials are still discussing contingency plans for moving practices and housing players elsewhere this week.

La Canfora reports that new Bills owner Terry Pegula, a huge Penn State booster, suggested moving their Week 12 game to Happy Valley. However, the lack of NFL game day infrastructure (replay booths, sidelines wired for tablets and headsets, etc.) all but ruled Penn State as a realistic option, given that there were available NFL stadiums.

La Canfora mentions that MetLife Stadium is not hosting a game next week in the event that they heed to use the stadium.

Patriots

  • Despite being held out of practice this week for oversleeping his alarm and being late, RB Jonas Gray will be active for the Patriots. (Jason La Canfora)
  • RB LeGarrette Blount is also active and the team is expected to determine their carries based on who’s producing.
