NFL Notes: Adrian Peterson, Workout Bonuses, 49ers, Bills

Adrian Peterson

  • Peter King of TheMMQB.com hears that free agent RB Adrian Peterson is willing to play for a “reasonable sum” of around $5 million or so for the right situation.
  • However, sources tell King that there’s currently no leader in the clubhouse to sign Peterson.
  • King expects him to wait until after the draft to sign with a team.
  • Although, King admits that the Saints could be a fascinating option for Peterson, given the proximity to his Houston home.

Workout Bonuses

  • According to Field Yates, new Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery receives a $750,000 bonus for participating in offseason workouts.
  • Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews, Jordy Nelson, Dontari Poe, Eli Manning and Alex Smith are among those will get $500,000 for offseason workouts this year.
  • Rich Cimini reports that Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson has a $250,000 workout bonus available.

49ers

  • Liz Mullen reports that the 49ers are suing former first-round pick Aldon Smith to recover $341,630.18 the team paid to him back in 2011.

Bills

Logan Thomas explained what it’s been like to go from playing quarterback to transitioning to tight end.

I had to learn a completely different set of ideals, a completely different verbiage, but it’s going very smoothly,” Thomas said, via BuffaloBills.com. “Thankfully going from quarterback to tight end is a lot easier than going from tight end to quarterback.”

Thomas realized that making this move may actually save his pro career, even though it lowered his pride a bit.

It definitely lowers your pride a little bit,” Thomas said. “You have to be humble about it and take things in from a full-picture perspective because simply, do you want your career to keep lasting? Or do you want it to end? For me, I’ve always had confidence that I could play quarterback but I always knew my body type, athleticism, speed and I could always catch and if something happens, I could potentially play tight end.”

“So far, everything has been going great. I think [the coaches] are great guys, first of all and then I think they are great coaches, as well,” Thomas said. “If you can trust somebody as a person, it gives you a lot better opportunity to trust them as a coach and that’s what I’ve been blessed with.”
