NFL Notes: Anthony Davis, Giants, Bills & Packers

Anthony Davis

  • Dan Duggan of NJ.com writes that if the 49ers ultimately elect to part ways with RT Anthony Davis, who announced that he has officially applied for reinstatement Monday, part ways, the Giants could be a team to keep an eye on for him.
  • The Giants have been exploring their options at right tackle in recent months, including reaching out to Eugene Monroe before he retired.

Bills

Bills CB Stephon Gilmore tells Josina Anderson that he obviously wants a long-term deal, but he has no plans to issue an ultimatum to the team.

“Everyone wants a long term deal, but I don’t have any ultimatums,” Gilmore said. “I’m getting what I am getting this year. I’m just really focused on the season and focusing on myself and the team. So that’s really where I’m standing at. I just got to stay prayed up and work hard like I have been doing the last four years, and keep putting my film on tape.”

Packers

Packers HC Mike McCarthy told reporters on Monday that he hasn’t heard from the league regarding Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers being interviewed by the league. However, McCarthy did say that he isn’t concerned about the situation.

“I have not talked to them recently [about the investigation]; I talked to them back in the season when it first came out, and frankly I don’t have anything else to really report on it,” McCarthy said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “I have no reason to be concerned based on the conversations I’ve been a part of.”
