NFL Notes: Baker Mayfield, Draft, Bengals, Browns

Baker Mayfield

• Robert Klemko of TheMMQB.com reports that Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield has visits scheduled with the Browns, Giants and Jets in the coming weeks.
• Mayfield also has private workouts lined up with the Browns, Jets, Dolphins and Saints at his Pro Day.
• According to Klemko, Mayfield met with the Dolphins, Jaguars, Bills, Broncos, Browns, Jets, Giants, Saints, Chargers, Cardinals and Redskins for interviews at the Combine.

Draft

• Andrew Groover mentions that nine NFL head coaches and front office executives were in attendance for Alabama’s Pro Day on Wednesday including Steelers HC Mike Tomlin and GM Kevin Colbert, Lions HC Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn, Bengals HC Marvin Lewis, Texans HC Mike Vrabel, Redskins president Bruce Allen, Titans GM Jon Robinson, and Panthers GM Marty Hurney.
• Jason La Canfora does not buy that the majority of NFL teams view Louisville QB Lamar Jackson as a wide receiver, given that there are plenty of quarterback-needy teams who would like to see him continue at the position.
• La Canfora expects six quarterbacks to be drafted in the first round, including UCLA’s Josh Rosen, USC’s Sam Darnold, Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph, Allen, and Jackson.
• Colorado CB Isaiah Oliver said he has scheduled a formal interview with the Broncos at the NFL Combine. (Nicki Jhabvala)

Bengals

Jim Owczarski of the Enquirer takes a look at some free agents that could make sense for the Bengals this offseason.

According to Owczarski, some of the names to keep an eye on could include:

• Rams DE/OLB Connor Barwin
• Titans LB Avery Williamson
• Eagles LB Nigel Bradham
• Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham
• Packers TE Richard Rodgers
• Panthers G Andrew Norwell
• Texans C Greg Mancz

Browns

• Pat McManamon of ESPN writes that it will be interesting to see if the Browns can convince CB Trumaine Johnson and other high-level free agents to sign with the team, despite having $110 million in available cap space.
• Although McManamon says Johnson is not considered a “top-tier elite” cornerback, he believes the Browns will have to pay him over $15 million per year and above players like Patrick Peterson, Xavier Rhodes, Richard Sherman, and Josh Norman.
• Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports believes the Browns will use their No. 1 overall pick on Wyoming QB Josh Allen and could pass on Penn State RB Saquon Barkley for a pass rusher in the first-round since there will be a large number of skilled running backs available on day two of the NFL Draft.
