NFL Notes: Bears, Bengals, Browns, & Chiefs

Bears

  • ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that Bears first-round WR Kevin White is “pushing to get on field” but Chicago plans to be cautious with him moving forward.
  • As of now, there’s no time frame for White’s return, even though he has increased his running.

Bengals

Browns

Browns HC Mike Pettine expressed some frustration with third-round RB Duke Johnson’s (hamstring) continued absence.

“It’s just disappointing that a guy we’re counting on being a big part of what we do, to lose him at this formative time of what we’re getting done,” Pettine said, via ESPN Cleveland. “He’ll have a lot of catch-up work to do. There’s no substitute for getting live reps.”

Chiefs

Chiefs DC Bob Sutton mentioned that they plan to take things slow with S Eric Berry, who is returning Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which forced him to miss the 2014 season.

“We’ve just got to be smart with him, and he’s got to be smart and realize this is going to take a little time no matter who you are,” Sutton said, via ESPN.com. “When he came back originally he was excited. He was on adrenaline. He was going.

“We’ve kind of made the conscious effort that we’re going to manage this as well as we can, let him be the lead dog in it with what we need. We’ve got plenty of time. He’s played a lot of football, so we’re not too concerned about that. He’s just got to get back where he feels comfortable and reacts and that type of thing.
