NFL Notes: Bears, Bengals, Jets, & Ravens

Bears

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk wonders if Mike Shanahan could be a potential head coaching target for the Bears in the even they part ways with Marc Trestman following the season.

Florio points to Shanahan’s relationship with QB Jay Cutler and the fact that he’s from Oak Park, Illinois as a few reasons why he might make sense for Chicago if they were to go in a different direction.

It may not only be Trestman’s job that’s in danger as Florio writes that GM Phil Emery could be on the hot seat as well.

Bengals

  • Bengals HC Marvin Lewis explained that QB Andy Dalton isn’t entirely to blame for their poor offensive production.

“Andy’s teammates had a lot to do with that rough game so no I’m not,” said Lewis, via Bengals.com. “To the naked eye it looks like it’s the quarterback’s issues, but there were a lot of issues to go around – both offensively and defensively. We have to do everything better and just allow Andy to do his job.

Jets

Michael Vick said he’s not worrying about his status beyond this season.

“I like it here,” Vick said, via Dom Costello of the Newark Star-Ledger. “But that’s not my decision to make.”

Vick is coming off of a solid win over the Steelers in Week 10 and figures to be the starter for the remainder of the season if he can continue producing.

“Whether I’m in the plans or not, that’s the future—I’m going to try to predict that,” Vick said. “I’m happy with whatever the situation may be. I understand the type of business that we are in. I’m just going to keep pushing to get better, and that’s it.”
