NFL Notes: Bears, Eagles, Giants, Raiders

Eagles HC Doug Pederson said Sunday that he isn’t worried about backup QB Nick Foles and his status for the regular season.

“Not worried about Nick Foles,” Pederson said, per Jeff McLane.Expects him to be ready for the season. Not sure yet on availability for the fourth reseason game.”

Raiders veteran LT Donald Penn explained that he ended his holdout and returned to the team in order to ensure that he was ready for the regular season.

“I came back for my teammates and my coaches,” Penn said, via CSN Bay Area. “We have a good thing going. I knew that it was Week 3 (of the preseason), and that I needed to get ready for (the regular season). At the end of the day, I have to make sure I’m the best Donald Penn on Sundays for my team and my teammates. That’s why I made the decision to come back.”

Penn did say that the Raiders promised to open talks regarding a new contract if he reported to the team.

That’s the plan,” Penn said. “We have a great owner, a good GM. I came in here putting my trust in them. That’s what they told me. I’m going to sit here and wait and control what I can control. That’s trying to get better from what I put out there today.”
