NFL Notes: Bears, Eagles, Jets, Saints, & Steelers

Bears

  • Bears announced the hiring of Ben Wilkerson as assistant offensive line coach.
  • Bears announced that Pat Meyer (O-line) and Chris Harris (defensive quality control) will not return to their coaching staff under John Fox.

Eagles

  • Sheil Kapadia of PhillyMag.com writes that DT Fletcher Cox is “exactly the kind of homegrown talent the Eagles should lock up and build around.
  • Kapadia believes locking up Cox to a long-term contract should be a priority for Philadelphia in the coming weeks.

Jets

  • The Jets will have decide whether or not to keep WR Percy Harvin by March 19, as they will owe the Seahawks a fourth-round pick if he’s still on their roster. (Rich Cimini)
  • Jets WR Jeremy Kerley‘s base salary of $2 million becomes fully guaranteed on March 14. (Rich Cimini)

Saints

Saints announced the team’s 2015 coaching staff additions including:

  • Dennis Allen as senior defensive assistant
  • John Morton as wide receivers coach
  • Joel Thomas as running backs coach
  • James Willis as defensive assistant/linebackers
  • Kyle DeVan and Greg Lewis as offensive assistants
  • Brendan Nugent as a coaching assistant.

Steelers

  • Steelers G.M. Kevin Colbert said on Tuseday that they have to be prepared for the possibility that RB Le’Veon Bell will be suspended at the start of the 2015 season. (Mark Kaboly)
