NFL Notes: Bengals, Packers, Ravens & Saints

Bengals

  • DT Devon Still, whose 5-year old daughter recently went into remission from a rare form of pediatric cancer, will be able to attend the Bengals’ mandatory minicamp after he received word from his daughter’s doctors that he would be able to do so.

I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in my football career, period — college or pro,” Still said, via Coley Harvey. “I’m playing motivated now. My daughter has won the battle against cancer, and I know she wants me to go out and prove myself on the football field. So that’s what I’m working towards.”

Packers

  • HC Mike McCarthy named second-year WR Davante Adams as the offseason MVP for the Packers.

I would say Davante Adams for someone if, if you want a clear illustration and example of a first-year player taking a jump in his second year, you just saw it here the last four weeks,” McCarthy said, via Bill Huber. “I think he’s been tremendous throughout the OTAs. And he’s got more in front of him, too, so I think that’s what’s exciting. I think Davante has done a great job in the strength and conditioning. He’s been really, really good in practice throughout this deal. Davante, if you wanted me to pick an MVP or an all-star, he would definitely be atop the list.”

Ravens

  • According to Aaron Wilson, TE Dennis Pitta has yet to be medically cleared from a major hip injury that he sustained in September, and will not participate in the Ravens’ mandatory minicamp.

Saints

  • Larry Holder writes that former CFL CB Delvin Breaux took “nearly all“of the first-team as a nickel back on Tuesday.
  • Veteran DT Kevin Williams has been playing with the first-team defense during OTAs.

He’s someone who’s real smart so he understands football and played a lot of it,” said HC Sean Payton.

  • Recently acquired MLB Dannell Ellerbe has been limited during the first week of OTAs, due to a hip injury he sustained last season.
